New Year's Resolutions......?

Good afternoon my darling, I hope you’re having a great start to your week. I love Monday’s because I find they fly by like nobody’s business…. Does it feel like that for you? I’ve been thinking a lot about New Year’s resolutions as the year, very quickly, comes to an end. I’ve been pondering over so many things that I could do as a resolution. Lately in my life in general some things and some feelings about things have been changing, and I think it’s time to spice things up a bit! I don’t have a hobby, I don’t know many people, and I seldom do things that I enjoy doing for myself, and that has led me to so many different things that I could take up, spend my money on, figure out…. First off, I thought that I could start running again. Typical New Year’s resolution, right? Nothing wrong with that at all, I work in the fitness industry so I totally support fitness goals, the only thing with that (for me) is that I know that if I feel like I HAVE to go for a run, I will talk myself out of it. I have “spurts” of running, so I might have it remain a goal, but it’s not going to be my huge new year’s resolution. I then thought about doing a program at college. I am very interested in doing a course on Business Marketing, and found a great course that I could sign up for in April, but is that a “resolution”? I mean, it could be part of a resolution, but it’s only 3ish months out of the whole year. If I want a hobby, it’s something that I’m going to want to keep up all of the time, right? I thought about taking a class in fashion design. I’ve never taken a course on this, so I’d start out with the beginner’s class. I feel like this is more on the right track because it could lead to a hobby of making clothes if I find that I enjoy it. I also thought along the same lines of taking a photography course! I’ve asked for a Digital SLR Camera for Christmas, so I guess depending on if I get that or not, I could take a photography class. That would definitely be a hobby! Whatever I decide to do, I know that part of my resolution will be to: - Have more friend time with my close friends. - Enjoy good food (which includes trying MANY different places here in Toronto). - Enjoy great wine. - Enjoy an amazing book. What have you thought about so far for your new year’s resolution? Let me know! Maybe it will inspire something fun for me as well. Stay Sweet. Xoxo.

My Grown Up Christmas List

Good evening good friends, I've been kind of blank lately when it comes to what to post about. Nothing exciting or new has really been happening, well, nothing that would interest you. But with the holidays just around the corner (LITERALLY! 18 days until Christmas! Which means.... VACAAAAATION!) so I thought I'd share with you, what I've asked for, for Christmas! I guess the biggest thing that was on my list was a new SLR camera... This one to be exact:
I can't help but fall in love with it because of it's colour, but I'm told that it's also a very nice camera! I can't wait to actually have an amazing camera to take pictures. I love taking pictures, and if I could take even better ones than I do now, it would be so worth the cost. Next on my list to C, was jewellery, to be more specific, a necklace from Tiffany's. Now, if anyone is dating a man like C, you understand how hard it is to get jewellery out of him. It took me 1.5 years to get a bouquet of flowers out of him, let alone a necklace, so I have made it very clear. I e-mailed him a list of 8 links of specific Tiffany necklaces that I thoroughly enjoy, so I'm going to share them with you for your opinion. Option 1 is very classic and elegant. Can't go wrong with this bad boy! Option 2 is so pretty and cute. I would LOVE telling people who gave it to me if they asked. xo Option 3 is SO adorable. What girl wouldn't honestly be so in love with this necklace? Swoon... Option 4 is another classic. Tiffany's is known for their key pendents.. love. Option 5 I love that it has New York City on it... another classic. Option 6... need I say more? Option 7 as cheesy as this sounds, it'd be like having him around my neck aaaaall day. Option 8 same comment as previous! What are you asking for for Christmas? Anything special from someone special this year? Stay Sweet. xoxo.

NYC Photos

Good afternoon my lovelies! I don't think I've had the pleasure of sharing my NYC photos with you all yet! Me and C went at the beginning of October for 5 days and 4 nights. It was my first trip anywhere, and I loved it!! Check out below :):
Awww.... I love these photos. Stay sweet. xoxo.

Stumped

Good morning gorgeous, I’ve decided to buy a Christmas gift for C’s mom this year. I still haven’t met his family (long story) but I’ve been with the guy for a year and a half, I think I can get away with getting them something this year, right? I’ve only ever seen one photo of C’s mother, and it was a cute on of her and C’s dad. I had put a suggestion out there that we get them a picture of the two of us in a frame, which I might do as part of the gift, the only thing is that C’s mom is blind, so she won’t be able to see the photo… or anything I get her. But fear not! I have come up with other plans as well, such as 1. A Pashmina; what girl/woman doesn’t like a nice soft scarf around her neck in the winter months? Or 2, a nice chunky/funky necklace from a nice little jewellery boutique. I’m leaning more towards the scarf, but if I see a necklace that I really like, I would consider buying it for her as well. We’ll see! Any thoughts? I’ve never had to buy a boyfriends mother a present before. I’m stumped. Also – I’ve decided that I’m completely giving up on baking. I really tried hard to bake macaroons twice now, and have failed miserably both times. However, it turns out that I really can cook, and I actually enjoy doing it! Talk about being domestic, right? I think I’m going to start sharing recipes and photos of my creations going forward. Stay Sweet. Xoxo.

Boots

Hello pretty ladies,

Well today was the end of an era. It finally happened, and I'm truly torn up about it. My perfect, grey, over the knee boots are so completely worn out that I absolutely cannot wear them again. I know this sounds like something that's quite easily fixed, but for those of you with very picky taste when it comes to foot ware, you know how hard it is to find a boot you're madly in love with.

Thank GOD there is no snow on the ground... or I'd be completely screwed. So I'm hoping that the snow holds out until Friday when I'll have the time/energy to go try and find another pair that I love as much as I loved the grey ones.

On that note - I think that I want boots with a heel. I've never had a nice pair of boots with a heel before, and I think it's time. Being a tall glass of water (I'm 6 feet tall) I tend to gravitate towards the flat boots.

Thoughts?

Maybe a wedge... I actually have no idea what I'm going to check out. I feel like this might be a long process, poor C for having to join me in my journey for incredible foot ware.

He's a good guy - I think he can handle it.

Stay sweet darlings.

Holiday Festives/Outfits :)

Good morning friends, on this cloudy rainy Tuesday.,

I’m currently curled up on my couch on this crappy, crappy day because for the first time in a loooong time, I feel like total garbage and I took a sick day. I’ve been elbow deep in the new 90210 TV show and needless to say, all of the episodes are on Netflix. I’m almost done watching the whole series, and because I literally can’t move, I’m going to finish it off today. I feel slightly juvenile watching it, but it’s basically like crack, and I can’t stop.

This weekend is the Holiday Social for my work. I’m thinking that it’s quite possible that The Ex will be there… so needless to say I’ve already figured out what I’m going to look like. Last time I had my whole look “figured out”, I realized that I absolutely cannot put a French Twist in my hair. So not only am I going to start my hair a lot earlier than I did last time, I’m going to practice on Friday night just to make sure I understand what I need to do. This sounds very dramatic, but I promise it will be worth it if she’s there.

I’m planning on wearing this dress:

Putting my hair up very “Audrey Hepburn” , like this:

And I’m going make my eyes smoky with green eye shadow, for the festive season. I think it will look pretty great. No?

Anyways – I will definitely be taking photos so I’ll be sure to post some, just to show you what my plan turned out like!

Do you have anything fun going on for the holidays? Spill!

Stay Sweet.

I'm Back!

Le mie signore! Come l'ho mancato...

In English, my ladies! How I’ve missed you…! I’m sorry I’ve been slacking for SO long! Work is insane; I’m busy ALL the time at work now. I mean... I’m not complaining because I despise being bored, and let’s face it – no one got anywhere being bored at work! I know this is an excuse – but I’m going to try and blog at least once a week now, even if it means *gasp!* doing it at home. I know, I KNOW!

I hope everyone is getting as excited for the holidays as I am. I have this crazy obsession with the holidays – mostly because they are some of the happiest times of the year for me! I get to see all of my amazing family, I get to give away some awesome gifts, I get to spend money (I probably spend a little more than I should – but hey, it’s only once a year!) and I get time off work! Woohoo! This weekend C and I are actually going back to my home town for my large family Christmas. We get together in November because my family is so large, that not everyone can be in one spot on actual Christmas, which is ok with me! My dad usually dresses up in a Santa costume with a huge pillow for his belly so that the kids can have some fun. He always brings a sack of gifts for all the little kids, and they go crazy, pictures on Santa’s knee and everything. I can remember this happening every year even before I can remember. My Grandpa used to do it when I was a little girl, but now he’s too old and frail, so either my dad or my cousin does it – such a fantastic tradition, I hope it goes on for a long time! Do any of you have any holiday traditions? I tried to start one with C last year, attending the Cavalcade of Lights here in Toronto every year, but alas, this year it’s on the weekend we’ll be away. So much for that tradition!

I also have recently really taken a like to cooking. I’ve decided to try one new recipe a week, because our dinners were becoming pretty boring. Monday night I decided to make chicken breast stuffed with spinach, feta cheese and Stilton cheese, wrapped in bacon. It was SO good. I really enjoyed it and was really proud that I actually did it! This past weekend I tried to make Macaroons (see below for pictures in case you don’t know what they are… like a lot of people I know) and it did not turn out so well. I tried to make meringue with a fork and my will power – that’s impossible. I decided it wouldn’t be a big deal. I also didn’t think Parchment paper would be that necessary. Clearly I don’t have a lot of experience with baking, because not having the “meringue” as actual “meringue” made my mixture too runny, which just flooded the baking sheet pretty much, and the mixture is basically liquid sugar, and just burned to my pan. It wasn’t a good scene. BUT I will not give up – I have everything I need now, I borrowed a hand mixer from a girl at work, and purchased some Parchment paper, so tomorrow on my day off (Hallelujah!) I’m going to blast my favourite Christmas tunes and bake till my little heart is content. Hopefully succeeding… If I don’t, I’m going to the store, buying Macaroons, and saying I did. No one will know :).

Anyways – this is my post for the day. I promise to write more… it’s so fun to blog, I don’t know why I never keep it up. Hmm…

Stay sweet.

The Versace Family

Good morning beautiful people.

This morning I decided I wanted to do a blog about the famous Versace Family. We’ve all heard of the Versace brand before, seeing as it is a world renowned name in the fashion industry, but I wanted to give a bit of detail behind the actual family, rather than the designs they create. I’m going to start off with the main man behind the Versace label, Gianni Versace himself.

Gianni Versace was born on December 2, 1946 in Reggio Calabria, Italy. He had an older brother, Santo, an older sister Tina who died at age 12 from a tetanus related infection, and a younger sister, Donatella. He studied architecture before he moved to Milan at the age of 26 to become a fashion designer.

In the mid-1970’s, his knits drew the attention of head hunters at Genny and Callaghan. Complice hired him to design their leather and suede collections, and a few years later, encouraged by his success, Versace presented his first signature collection for women at the Palazzo della Permanente Art Museum of Milan. His first menswear collection followed in September of the same year. After presenting his menswear collection, he joined Jorge Saud, who would later become partners with Giorgio Armani. The first boutique was opened in Milan’s Via della Spiga in 1978.

Gianni Versace was shot dead on July 15, 1997 at age 50, on the steps of his Miami Beach mansion as he returned from a morning walk on Ocean Drive. He was murdered by Andrew Cunanan, who used the same gun to commit suicide on a boat several days later. According to a member of the ‘Ndrangheta, Giuseppe Di Bella the fashion designer, Versace was murdered because of debts to the Mafia.

In September 1997 it was announced that Versace’s brother, Santo, and Jorge Saud would serve as the new CEO’s of Gianni Versace SPA. Versache’s sister, Donatella, became the new head of design. In his will, Gianni left 50% of his fashion empire to his niece Allegra Versache, daughter of Donatella. Her younger brother Daniel inherited Versace’s rare art collection. Allegra inherited her stake, worth about half a billion dollars, when she turned 18 in 2004.

Santo Versace

Santo Versace was born on December 16th, 1944. He grew up at the same time as Gianni Versace in Italy.

In 1968 Santo graduated from the University of Messina with a degree in Economics. He first began working as a banker in Reggio Calabria for Credito Italiano and later worked as a high school teacher of economics and geography. In 1972 he completed his military service as an officer in the “Genova Cavalleria”. Upon completion of his service, Santo opened his own accounting office in both Reggio Calabria and Milan. In 1976 he joined his brother Gianni in Milan to support him in his rising career.

In 1977, Santo along with Gianni, founded the Gianni Versace trademark. Santo played a leading role in the success of the Versace brand by focusing on communication, organization, productivity, and quality. He oversaw all areas of the business – including sales, distribution, production and finance, and quickly became one of the industry’s leading and most well-respected businesspeople.

In 1998, Santo was appointed president of the Italian Fashion Chamber where he served from 1998-1999. Santo is married to Christina, and they live in Milan with their two children, Francesca and Antonio.

With his sister, Donatella, the team built the Versace Empire into a worldwide luxury company generating over $1 billion per year in retail sales. Today, together with Donatella, Santo continues to lead the house of Versace.

Allegra Versace

Allegra Versace was born on June 30, 1986. She is the niece of the late Gianni Versace and was eleven years old when Gianni was murdered. Gianni doted on Allegra, calling her a princess and once saying,

“I like Allegra because she tells me the truth about Donatella."
When Gianni passed, he left 50% of his empire to Allegra. While she was still a minor, her uncle and mother were trustees of her portion and on her 18th birthday, she assumed command of the $700 million fortune giving her 50% controlling stock at Versace.

She was raised outside of Milan along with her younger brother Daniel, she has been described as being very close to her mother, though very different. It was said that she is a “serious, sensible and bright” child “with her hair in pigtails and her nose in a history book.”

She went to school at Sir James Henderson School in Milan and attended Brown University in Rhode Island. She divides her time between her mother’s home in Milan and a busy social life in New York City and Los Angeles. In 2006 she became a UCLA student of French, Art History and Theatre.

In March 2007 Allegra was admitted into treatment for anorexia.

Donatella Versace

Donatella was born on May 2, 1955. She was born in the Italian city of Reggio di Calabria and is the youngest of her 4 siblings.

In the 1970’s, Donatella followed her brother Gianni to pursue knitwear design in Florence, Italy. Donatella had planned to work for her brother as Public Relations, but she was more valuable to Gianni as a “muse and critic” according to Donatella during an interview with Vogue. Through her closeness to her brother’s enterprises, Donatella plunged into the fashion world. A decade later, during the 1980’s, Gianni launched a perfume dedicated to her, Blonde, and gave her her own diffusion label, Versus, which remains a well-known Versace inner line.

Donatella was the first to use notable celebrities to broadcast her clothing into the world on the catwalk and other public media such as advertisements, instead of using unknown models. Donatella soon proved to be the public relations giant with the Versace label and spread its name throughout Europe and most of the United States. Donatella chose to place some of her good friends, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Demi Moore, in high esteem in the Versace advertising sector, making them and other A-list celebrities like Beyonce and January Jones the persona and image of Versace. Her popularity grew when she designed the famous Versace Green Dress, worn by Jennifer Lopez at the Grammy’s in 2000.

A year and three days after Gianni’s death in July 1998, Donatella mounted her first couture show for Versace Atelier at the Hotel Ritz Paris. She built her runway over the hotel’s swimming pool, as her brother had done every season, though this time using sheer glass. She now oversees the production of over a dozen collections each year, though these days, Donatella is just as famous as for her celebrity entourage and glittering parties. Regular guests include Sir Elton John, Liz Hurley, Rakeem Young, Lucy Munn, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Kate Moss. Even Prince Charles attends Donatella’s parties for the famous and elite throughout Europe.

In 2010 Donatella’s charity work earned her a Do Something With Style Award nomination from the VH1 Do Something Awards. She was nominated for providing art supplies to children and creating a tote bag, whose proceeds will go to Starlight and the ONE Foundations.

Goodbye Best Friend!

La buona mattina magnifica!

I hope everyone has had a great start to the week. I wanted to dedicate a blog post to my best friend Lauren. Today she's driving half way across the country to start up a new live in Nova Scotia! She's super brave for doing this, and I give her extreme props for doing it. I'm going to miss her very much, but I guess that just means I have to fly out to Nova Scotia to visit her!

This is my most recent picture of her and I. We've been best friends since our first year of college, so about 4 years now I think. Le sigh - she is literally my second half, and probably my more sane half, she has helped me out of a lot of situations, but has also been there to get in tons of trouble with me! I love her to bitsies!!

Her birthday is coming up, so I'm trying to think of a cool gift I could send to Nova Scotia that would help her in the big move! Any ideas? I definitely want to get her some Lollipop nail polish, I've decided it's my favourite. :)

Also - this morning I decided to try something new with my hair. Lauren e-mailed me a link to a pretty cool YouTube video about making waves in my hair... this is the end result:

What do you think?

Stay sweet.

My Weekend

Hi girls!

How was everyone's weekend?

I had a rather different weekend than usual. Usually C and I go out at least one of the nights, if not both, with friends for a few bevvy's... but this weekend we stayed pretty close to home, and it felt SO amazing.

On Friday night we spent it with my sister who's in Toronto vising, and we took her shopping downtown. She had a lot of fun, made a couple purchases and we took her home. The one thing that was surprising to me is that I didn't buy a single thing... Honest!! Ever since the new that we're going to NYC, I'm bound and determined to save money, pay off a lot of my credit card before we go, so that I don't have to worry... I'll talk more about my new ideas in a moment.

On Satruday I spent a lovely 2 hours in a walk-in clinic. I'm not going to openly talk about my sickness, but I got meds and am feeling much better already! We then did our bi-weekly grocery shop, and went home where I had a much needed nap and he caught up on some much needed "saving the world" time (aka. Video Games). That night we went to my cousins place for her birthday, sat outside with friends and talked all night. It was so relaxing and so nice not going out till the early morning hours... I think I'm going to try and NOT go out this coming weekend too!

Sunday was pretty low-key too. We had my sister come over again and we went to see the Blue Jays play some baseball. Unfortunately it was probably the worst baseball game I'd ever seen, so we left early so me and my sister could workout. After, we took her home, me and C made tacos! I love taco night, and because I love it so much, I totally overindulged and had such a gross feeling stomach all night. We ended up watching the VMA's in bed while playing scrabble on my Blackberry. It was really fun... I love low-key weekends!

Ok... so this is what I've decided to do when it comes to shopping/travelling/money. There was a bit of time at the beginning of the year when I wasn't making very good money, and I had to put a lot of money on my credit card. Well, now I'm making pretty good money, but I don't have any more money only because I'm now able to shop. So I think that I'm not going to induldge in the wonders of shopping (unless I need something... Like work pants for example, I've lost weight and the only pants I have always fall down when I walk - I clearly need new work pants).

I think as long as I refrain from going out to bars and clubs, it will really help. I have a goal to cut down my credit card by almost half before I go to NYC, but to still have lots of spending money. I can do this! I have to do this! I just keep thinking about how much money I'll have after I have no more credit card payments, and no more student loan payments... it will be GLORIOUS!!!!

Stay sweet.

Ciao Bella!!

Buona mattina mio bello!,

I hope everyone is having a favoloso day already!
Last night I got caught up in my book yet again... Eat, Pray, Love definitely makes me think about what I want to experience in life. And I've come to the conclusion that I'm pretty sure I want to learn basic Italiano...

Not only is this probably the most bello language I've ever heard (I didn't realize this really until Elizabeth was speaking about it in her book...) but how cool would it be to have a fairly normal conversation in Italian? If I knew Italian I would speak it at home all the time, just to confuse people! I also really enjoy learning, and I feel I need a new challenge since I've been out of college for almost 3 years now.

I've also convinced myself that I want to teach my tongue to enjoy a glass of red wine. I hear this is an aquired taste, and I want to aquire it.

Can you imagine? Having a glass of red wine while conversing in Italian? Swoooon! Sì per favore!.

What languages can you speak? I'm very horrible at what is supposed to be my second language, French. Honestly in school, I just hated it, I had (what I thought) were horrible teachers and I just had no interest in learning a new language. I honestly thought it would never come in handy in life... well I wish to lord at this point in time that I knew French. Even basic French... what a horrible mistake I had made!

So here is my chance to make up for it! Viva Italiano!!

Stay Sweet.
