Clean Eating, Paleo...

Good Morning lovely, A friend of mine, Keely, writes a very interesting blog. Watch Keely Work is a blog about her journey of a major lifestyle change. She eats a strict Paleo diet and workouts like a maniac. Needless to say, I find the blog quite motivating. Since starting my marathon training, I've really been trying to eat a lot healthier, but for some reason it's just not helping the fat loss. I run 4x/week, I lift weights 2x/week, I do yoga 1x/week and pole dancing 1x/week. I think I just need some fine tuning with my diet. I've been interested in the general idea of a paleo diet for a while. When I first moved to Toronto and started working at my first job, a lot of the people there ate a Paleo diet. I was totally weirded out by the whole "eat like a caveman" thing, and just never got on board. Since then (over a year later) I've read about the science behind it, and have realized that it's not as insane as I once thought. The only thing that would be hard about it is, well, there are multiple reasons why I would find it hard. 1. no carbs, from starchy foods that is. I don't know about you, but I friggen LOVE starch. This could be part of the problem I'm having losing the unwanted body fat. 2. tons of preparation. I know this kind of sounds lazy, but it takes a lot of work to preplan meals and snacks. It wouldn't be impossible, but I'd definitely need to find an easy way to do it. I guess once I start doing it and get used to it, it wouldn't feel so much like work. 3. limiting my alcohol. Since C has hurt his knee, I've very much cut back on the amount of alcohol I've been drinking. I can definitely tell it's making me feel better. This weekend I went out on Friday, my first time going out since the near year I believe. I literally felt hung over and dehydrated all weekend. It didn't feel good, and I don't plan on going that hard again for a long time. 4. overcoming objections. I work in an office where fitness and diet may not be everyones first concern. C also isn't too strict about what he eats. It might be hard for me to have to make two separate dinners, or deal with the little smirks the people at my office give me. Mind you, it wouldn't be the first time this has happened (like when I became a vegetarian), so it wouldn't be the end of the world. So I'm thinking I'm going to try out a Paleo diet for a week and see how I feel, and how I feel on my runs and during my workouts. I think I will start on Monday the 20th, and go until the 26th, and evaluate if I feel better, and if the preparation and time I put into it is worth it. Thoughts? Have you tried a paleo diet before? Stay sweet. xoxo
