Be The Best With What You're Working With

Good afternoon Beautiful,

Yesterday morning I ran my last "training run" of the program for training for my half marathon. The next time I run, I'll be running in the GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon (half)! Isn't that crazy? It seems like yesterday when I was debating whether I wanted to commit to doing this race or not. I'm so glad I stuck to my guns for a number of reasons...

- I proved to myself that I really can do whatever I want to as long as I put my all into it.
- I've become stronger both physically and mentally because of it.
- It has become a hobby, something I can do by myself, that's my thing, that helps clear my mind.
- I've increased muscle mass.
- I've decreased fat mass.
- I've become so much more knowledgeable about the sport of running, working out and nutrition.
- I know when to not push my body, and when to push my body to its limits.
- I've been able to talk "shop" with other runners and fitness buff's and make new friends along the way.

The list could really go on and on...

I was originally supposed to run my last run today, but during my run yesterday I could really feel how tight my calve muscles and my hamstrings are so I've decided to take today off and focus on stretching and some light weight training this week, mostly stretching and foam rolling (the worst..).

Speaking of "light resistance training", yesterday I did upper-body and my friendly trainer friend (Osa), came over to show me a new way to work my chest and stretch my chest - my god. I'm sore today, and my biceps feel like I shredded the crap out of them. Amazing, but I could do without the pain. He told me I'm not allowed to work my legs at all this week (I wasn't planning on it) or do much in terms of anything. I can handle that. Sitting on my butt and eating? Sounds good to me! The joys of being a runner... THIS week is what I've been working towards for the past 4 months :).

I've already ordered my crops, I just need to get those amazing, amazing shoes. I told myself if I finished this half-marathon, I would buy them for me. Good motivation, no?

I woke up with a cold yesterday morning, perfect timing right? It couldn't have come at a worse time. I've been drinking oil of oregano like it's going out of style (not really, I can't handle more than 3 drops in a huge glass of water, this stuff is awful) and I've been resting a lot. Like, going to bed an hour before C kind of rest, and coming home from work to lay in bed and blog kind of rest, and I refuse to cook dinner or clean type rest. I'm sure C loves how productive I've been.

Speaking of productive, I received my second Glossybox in the mail yesterday (click here for more info) and got some great products.
