It's Always Nice To See A Familiar Face...

Good afternoon Beautiful,
The weekend is almost over, how sad. My weekend flew by like always but unlike last weekend, this weekend was a lot more productive and a lot less drunk. I had written on Friday that we were going out to Williams Landing in Liberty Village on Friday. It’s always really fun going there because we usually run into people we know. We ran into a couple people, some we know well, other’s not so much, but it’s always nice to see a familiar face no matter where you are.
Saturday we went to the gym and C helped me work on my back, biceps and triceps. I attempted one of my “almost” pull-ups for him, and he laughed and said it was a lot of kicking, I corrected him by letting him know that the kicking is just momentum, a natural movement when performing a pull-up (not at all… I was just justifying my awkwardness). If I can remember correctly, my workout went like this (yesterday my shoulders were ON FIRE from my workout on Friday… so it was a little less intense than I would have liked)
Seated row, 45lbs, 3 sets of 10
Dumbbell bicep curl, 15lbs/hand, 3 sets of 10
Some random row machine, I’m not sure what it’s called but I put 2x10lbs plates on it, and did 3 sets of 8
Tricep pressdown, 30lbs, 3 sets of 10 (last set was 8)
Cable machine bicep curl, 30lbs, 2 sets of 10
- My 1 pull-up attempt happened here -
Assisted pull-up, 70lbs of help (I was pulling 80lbs), 2 sets of 10
Assisted dips, 55lbs of help (I was dipping 95lbs), 2 sets of 10
Not bad, my biceps are sore sore sore today! On our way home C wanted to stop by the mall and purchase some fancy new Lululemon workout clothes. Awesome, I knew I needed to get some Lara Bars and a new water bottle because I was currently using a 1 litre plastic water bottle I had bought at the gym. When we got to the mall, we found the health food store, and they had TONS of my favourite type of Lara Bars, coconut cream. They also had a sign up saying if I bought a box, I’d get 10% off. SOLD. I friggen bought an ENTIRE box of coconut cream Lara Bars. These are 100% the best things ever. I could eat one with every meal, hell, I could eat them AS my meal, but alas, I do not. I was super excited for this purchase however.
We got to Lululemon and I found an amazing, neon yellow water bottle and bought it instantly. Check it out – isn’t it awesome? I will never lose this water bottle! It’s glass so it’s easy to clean, the neon cover comes off so you can put the glass jar in the dishwasher, it’s just so much better than the stainless steel one I had previously.

My new water bottle... and a Lara Bar!
I’ve been drinking water out of it constantly since I bought it. Hydration tip #1, if you have a bottle you LOVE drinking out of, you’ll drink more water! The opening of my new bottle is also big enough to fit ice cubes in which is nice in the hot hot summer weather we’ve been having here in Toronto!
On the way home I got C to stop at the grocery store because I needed to pick up food to make for dinner since I didn’t want to order anything, so I got a fresh pork tenderloin, fresh organic mushrooms and watermelon. This was a bit of a gamble for me because I have never made pork tenderloin before in my life. I’ve ate it before, it’s always been delicious, but I’ve never even thought about how to make it. So once I got home, I hoped onto my iPad and began the research. There are a ton of different ways to cook pork tenderloin, and they’re all very technical. In typical Sarah fashion, I opted for the easiest, most non-technical recipe I could find. Put my pork tenderloin in a roasting pan at 200 degrees for 20 minutes, take it out and let it sit for 10 minutes, and good to go. Well if this pork tenderloin didn’t turn out AMAZING… I was actually a bit surprised that it was so easy to do! Check it out!

This is what my mushroom goodness looked like. I added garlic, chives and sundried tomatoes in with them for some pizzazz… it was delicious.

After dinner we were to meet up with some friends downtown at the Loose Moose on Front St to watch the UFC fights. I honestly dislike UFC more than a lot of things. I don’t understand it, I think it’s gross, barbaric, unsafe, just pretty much stupid. I also have a hard time putting on a poker face when I think something is stupid. I’m very open with my feelings towards everything, and well, that’s just how I roll. We got to the bar, and it’s literally FULL of men just sitting, drinking beer and staring at the television screen, so giddy for this whole thing to start. For a while there were some technical difficulties and the fights weren’t on tv. This was hilarious for me because so many people left, so many people were SO unbelievably upset that it wasn’t on the TV’s, it was humorous for someone who doesn’t like the sport to begin with.
When they eventually got back on, 1.5 hours later, it was the second last fight of the night. According to the people I was with, it wasn’t the BIG fight, but it was a good fight to watch because one of the guys was retiring after that fight. The old guy lost unfortunately, and we were going to leave after that fight, but I knew C wanted to see the last fight so I sucked it up and stayed. Thank god for Anderson Silva because he knocked out his opponent so quickly, it was a win for everyone. I won because I got out of there faster than I had anticipated, C won because he got to see the fight (even though he was just coming out of the washroom when Silva knocked the other guy out) and Silva won because he beat the crap out of the other guy.
After we left the Loose Moose, guess where we went? If you guessed WILLIAMS LANDING, you’d be correct! We ALWAYS end up going there before the night is over. It’s just a known fact that Williams Landing is where we go. It’s like our home base, our go-to bar, our “it’s safe, let’s go there” place to go with our friends. We got there, and the bartenders all remember us. I got my usual Vodka Soda, and C got his beers. We set up shop on the patio overlooking Liberty Village, and had some drinks, enjoyed the amazing weather. It was a beautiful night, couldn’t have asked for more! We got home around 2am, and I enjoyed a sweet, sweet Lara Bar and called it a night.
Today however – HAS BEEN SO PRODUCTIVE! I’m so proud of myself. I got up, ate an amazing breakfast of leftover pork tenderloin and mushrooms, hit the gym for 45 minutes of cardio (I decided to let my muscles rest today and to just do cardio) while reading a few chapters of 50 Shades Of Grey (was anyone else as shocked with this book as I am?), did all of the laundry and got a lot of actual work done! Productive Sundays are always the best.
I’m off now to help C with dinner (he’s cooking a roasted chicken, he makes THE BEST roasted chicken!! The skin is always so crunchy… mm… it’s making my mouth water right now…..) and I’m sure we’ll be catching up on some Dexter on Netflix! I was thinking today, I wish they had Sex & The City on Netflix. I have 4 seasons on DVD, I should watch them. I also have 2 seasons of The Hills. Gee – can you tell what type of TV I like to watch? J

Oh! Some other fun news - I'm starting a "Healthy Recipe Day" every 15th of the month. I'm going to feature one of my fellow SweatPink Ambassadors who have a really great clean, healthy recipe. Be sure to watch out for the first one this month!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything interesting? What about your workouts?
Stay sweet.
