New Kicks, Kale Chips, 3 Workouts & My Giveaway!

Good afternoon Beautiful,

I had total intentions of blogging last night, and life literally got in the way. I didn’t get home until 7, I started cleaning and making kale chips (I will show you in a bit!) and didn’t end up eating dinner till almost 9:20 and then went to bed! Needless to say it didn’t leave much time to write, and I really wanted to! I’ve had 3 workouts since my last post and it’s going to be hard to remember the first one, but I do remember that it was TRX. I bought new runners this week. I haven’t bought new running shoes since I decided I was going to run a half-marathon so I thought it was definitely time for a new pair. The good news is they’re the same colour of shoe as all the really fast sprinters in the Olympics, so that means I should be SUPER fast just by wearing them, right? Makes sense. Watch out Usain Bolt… I will be your new competition…
Just kidding... But the shoes themselves are really fun and really comfortable. Check it out.

It’s 1 week away until the canfitpro Toronto conference. I’m super excited and I’ve been working out and eating super clean to try and look my best in front of all of these crazy intense fitness professionals. Is anyone else going to the conference? The keynote speaker this year is Simon Whitfield, the triathlete. After his crash during his race, I started thinking about what he’s going to talk about… I’m sure somehow the crash will be incorporated into his speech somehow. Too bad he didn’t like JUST win a medal this year, how wicked cool would that have been? Poor guy, I hope him and his ego are ok.
I met up with a fellow Sweat Pink Ambassador on Wednesday night. Michelle from Push.Pump.Progress and I met up in Scarborough for dinner and some drinks. I had a tomato juice (I’m not sure if you’re all aware of my love for tomato juice. It’s extensive, and that’s all I’m going to say about it) and then Michelle FORCED me into having a Bloody Mary (just kidding Michelle, I was open and willing to have it!) and then we both ordered the lettuce wraps. Yep, we both eat paleo and we both ordered the 1 thing that was mostly paleo on the whole menu. They were delish! Messy… definitely messy, but delicious. It was super awesome to get to hang out with her for a couple of hours. We have a lot in common which is nice, you don’t meet a lot of people that you’re connect with so well anymore. We’re planning on running a 5km in September together and I’m sure many more ventures after that!
Today is my little sisters 16th birthday. Little Brooke can officially get her license (speaking of which, you may want to stay off the roads for a few days, let her get used to the whole “behind the wheel” thing.). Her, my parents, my 4 cousins, and 2 other cousins are coming over to our place tomorrow morning/afternoon to go to the Jays game. I’m excited to see everyone and will for sure snap some photos to post on here later. So because everyone is coming, that means C and I get to have a really fun CLEANING PARTY tonight!! I’m actually not excited for a cleaning party at all, but it needs to be done. The good news is that my TRX session today woke me up A TON and I’m ready to be productive.
So yes, my workouts… I’ve had 3 since my last post. The first one was TRX and the focus was on pushing, so a lot of upper body work. Yesterday I was so sore from the TRX session on Wednesday – it was amazing!!  Even today I could still feel my triceps a little bit. Since I was sore yesterday, and since I had these amazing running shoes, I thought I’d test them out and go for a run on the treadmill. I still haven’t convinced myself to run outside yet, but soon enough I’m sure. I ran for 30 minutes while watching the men’s Javelin on TV. Talk about motivation… if you were watching insanely fit, ripped, gorgeous men through things almost ¾ of a kilometer you’d be motivated to finish a measly 30 minutes on the treadmill as well. So I did 3.1 miles in 30 minutes (5km to my Canadian friends)… not bad for my second run in 3ish months.
Today I did TRX again, and this time it was lower body. I’m still shaking. There was a lot of 1-legged squats, squat jumps, jumping jacks, overhead squats, jumping lunges, every possible lower body exercise we did. I was sweating a TON and it felt great at the end. I figured I had to make it a good one because I don’t know if I’m going to have time to work out tomorrow, so I needed to push it hard!
Like I had mentioned earlier, last night I made Kale chips. I actually got the recipe from Michelle’s blog under “Paleolithic Recipes”. Basically, you buy a bunch of kale, break the leaves up into bite size pieces, wash it, dry it, drizzle EVOO over the leaves with garlic powder and sea salt, place onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. IT’S SO GOOD!!! Here’s what my batch turned out like…

 Doesn’t it look like green healthy heaven? This is definitely a new staple to my diet, mostly my “before bed” diet. How awesome would it be to eat a huge snack before bed and it’s basically just lettuce. NO GUILT!  You can check out Michelle’s recipe by clicking here.
