Tomorrow is Friday! Is anyone as excited as I am? This weekend is going to be absolutely insane for me. Seriously. Tomorrow night C is taking his manager’s out for dinner and a night on the town (aka Bottle service at Cube) and then Saturday is Alyssa’s wedding. I am reeeeeeally hoping that I can get up Saturday morning and go for a run before we have to head home to get ready for the wedding. Problem is the whole bottle service thing happening tomorrow night. I’m going to try hard to not drink a lot. I’m going to alternate 1 vodka/soda, 1 glass of water. Obviously, this is my intention and whether I actually execute this plan is the real question…… I already know what I’m going to wear. This exact outfit:
Today and yesterday I’ve taken Jenny out running with me. I’ve actually really enjoyed it. I’ve never had a running partner before and it’s been nice having someone to chat with while running. Yesterday we tackled a solid 7.5 km run and today we did 5. It was a bajillion degrees hotter out today than it was yesterday so by the time we did 5 km I felt more tired than when I finished the 7.5km. The only thing is that we’re not running as fast as I’d like. I know, I know, it’s not a race and it’s all about putting in the miles, but I really want to do my zoo race in less than an hour, and running at the speed I’ve been running at won’t allow me to finish under an hour. So I told Jenny next week we’re going to speed up the running. I think she’s a bit nervous, but I won’t push her too hard.
I think tomorrow is the last day of TRX. It’s a bit bittersweet. I’m excited to start doing my WODs and my own workouts again but I’m not going to have a trainer to push me harder than I’d push myself, but like I said, I’m excited to be able to put on some more muscle mass, rather than focusing on endurance which is what TRX focuses on (at least in my experience). I have a feeling I’m going to be sore after my workouts for a little while, but I love that feeling. It makes me feel intense!
So I’m not sure why, but lately I’m fairly obsessed with kale. I know right – weird thing to be obsessed about, but I’ve ate it every single day this week at least once, sometimes twice. Do you ever go through vegetable stages? I totally do. Remember my red cabbage phase? Then I was loving zucchini, and now its kale. Except I don’t want to get over kale because that’s how much I love it. It’s really weird. I hope I’m not the only one like this… Speaking of veggies, I’m almost done It Starts With Food (which became a NY Times best seller today! Woohoo!) and I have to admit, I’m very impressed with how the book was written. It’s so easy to understand the science-y parts and I love their complete no bullshit approach to eating. It’s definitely a book I would give to a friend looking to change their eating. I think my next book purchase is going to be a paleo cookbook. I was talking to some people on Twitter last night and they gave me some great recommendations. I need to add some recipes to my Clean Eats tab on my blog, so a cookbook will definitely help!
This post is turning out to be somewhat lame. I really did think I had more to talk about but this week has been rather low key for me! I will definitely be able to blog on Sunday once we’re home from Kincardine because I’ll have lots of stories from the wedding, and lots of pictures too!
I know a lot of you have entered my Larabar giveaway already and THANKS A TON for everyone who already has. I actually got confirmation of two more giveaways that will be happening after my Larabar giveaway closes, one will be basically directly after I announce the winner of the Larabar giveaway and then the next one will be in October (mid-late I think). I’m reeeeally excited about then because I know ALL of you will be super excited and want to win them all!
So in case you haven’t entered the Larabar giveaway already – please do so here. You can win 16 different types of Larabars (I have never even SEEN 16 types of Larabars before!), which are vegan, raw, gluten and dairy free snack bars that are honestly, my favourite snack bars of all time. I literally ate two for dinner once when I was in a rush (haha, that’s embarrassing to admit, but it’s true). So take the 5 minutes it takes to enter and do so! You have NO Idea what you could be missing! J
Have a great night guys, you’ll either hear from me on Saturday morning (cross your fingers that I get up and run in the morning!!) or Sunday later afternoon when we get home from the wedding!
