I just want to start off by saying that I'm totally missing meat. A good quality piece of salmon is calling my name for when I'm done this cleanse. I don't like the feeling of being empty an hour after I've ate. Although I have noticed some changes in my body.... and not necessarily the outside look of my body (although I've noticed my tummy is a bit more toned and I got asked why I'm looking so skinny yesterday, love questions like that). My cleanse is meant to flush the body of toxins. I've been drinking tons of water which is causing me to pee like every hour... and the veggies and fruits I've been eating are packed full of fibre.. which.. you know... makes me do something else like 4 times per day. That's unusual but definitely something I noticed while eating all these fresh things.
I've also noticed that this week I've been tired, lazy, unmotivated to hit the gym. Seriously.. it's so odd. Tuesday I didn't workout, yesterday I attempted to workout and then gave up (I got upstairs and realized my iPod died, so I attempted doing weights and my body was tired and I couldn't lift as heavy as normal and I was really thirsty for some reason...) after 25 minutes, and today I didn't workout just because. I'd like to think it was because I was helping a fellow coworker get some extra work done, but I didn't HAVE to do that, I chose to do it to avoid going out for a run. Not like me at all, although it made me feel super productive at work which is ALWAYS a plus!
The Toronto Yonge St. 10km race is about a month from now and I have zero training in. Why you ask? I don't even know. I want to blame the weather, but I trained all winter last year. Mind you, last year's Canadian winter wasn't nearly as bad as this years... but I'm still just making excuses. I'm going out for an outside run on Saturday, and I made Jenny promise that her and I would start running outside on our lunch breaks as of Monday. Both her and I are running that race and it'd be nice to have a decent time, especially since I crushed last year's race with an end time of just over 55 minutes. Le sigh.
Today something fun happened. Today I had my second installment of school come off my credit card. Not a big deal because I save money so I'm able to pay it off as soon as it goes on my credit card. However, I realized that I've saved like $150 more than I needed to to pay off the school payment. Uhmmm.... SCORE! This means I get to put extra money towards paying off my credit card this week. Which lead me to plan out all of my paycheques and payments and savings leading up to when I go buy my precious Loubies (shoes for those of you who don't know). Basically I have a goal of paying off the entire credit card by April 5th. From there, I'm going to be saving $100 from every paycheque from then until June 28th which gives me $600 to put towards my precious pumps (which is about 80% of the total price of the shoes). I'll go to David's and order a pair in my size in hopes that it doesn't take longer than 6 weeks to arrive because I have a gala to wear them to. I will then have the one thing I've been dying for for years, and I can't wait. It will be the first really (REALLY) nice thing that I've bought myself ever!
Back to my meatless eating this week for a bit. I wanted to share some photos that I've taken of some food/snacks recently! Last night C was working late so I got home and went to the Sobey's near my house to pick up some veggies for dinner. I came across these guys...
Zesty Nacho flavoured kale chips. I have to admit, I was disappointed that they cost $7 because unfortunately they weren't that good. I think the ones I make at home are WAYYYY better... sorry guys at Rhythm Superfoods... I'm sure you're all very nice people, I just prefer my version of your product so much more!
One other thing that I thought of sharing was my method of salad making. More specifically, salad's that I'm taking to work so need to fit in a reusable container. Do you have the same problem as me where you cut WAY too much lettuce so you can barely fit veggies into your salad without having to put them in a totally separate container? This happens to me ALL. THE. TIME! So I started doing this instead...
This will be forever known as Sarah's Upside Down Salad. Basically I put all of my veggies in first and top the salad off with lettuce, it gets all mixed up anyways...!! It's genius! Has anyone ever thought of doing this before? If no one responds then I'm totally taking credit for it. Neat right?
