I Planted A Herb Garden! And I Have A Giveaway For You!

Hey Loveys,

Happy Sunday!

I just got back from a little movie date with C and we went to go Olympus Has Fallen which has Morgan Freeman and Gerard Butler in it. Oh my god guys... I haven't seen a movie that good in so long. I had my heart on my chest the whole time, there were points in the movie when I wasn't even physically breathing. I was on edge the whole time... It was just unreal, you need to see this movie if you haven't already. I promise you won't be disappointed!

I'm jealous of everyone that got out for a run today. The weather was unreal! Here in Toronto it was like 16 degrees outside which is basically like summer here in Canada. When I first got up in the morning it was rainy and gloomy. I had planned on going for a run but because it was gross out I talked myself into doing the run tomorrow and did 6 loads of laundry before heading out to the movies. The weather totally cleared up and was super gorgeous, so now I wish I would have went, but too late... oh well! I did get all my workout clothes clean which was much needed as well as all my other clothes. You know how it is.

I told you yesterday how tired I was from going out Friday night, well C was tired too apparently. We stayed in last night and put on a James Bond movie (Quantum of Solace), ordered Greek food for dinner and stayed in. I had a Greek salad with chicken. It was so good and so refreshing! We ended up hitting the sac around 10pm and could barely even watch any tv (which we always do) before falling asleep. SO unlike us! But I slept until 9am, so clearly my body needed a rest. I feel awesome today and super productive which always makes me feel better.

After the movie today we went and did groceries. We didn't need a lot, it was mainly the fresh produce I eat every day and to see if there are any deals on anything we normally buy. Because I've been making so many green smoothies lately, I thought it would be a cool idea to add some powdered greens to my smoothies to see if it helps:

1. make it green
2. get some additional nutrients
3. see if it helps keep my energy levels up during this insane time at work!

So this is what I picked up:

So I got the little guy because I didn't want to invest a ton of money in case I didn't like it. I got the Daily Detox kind which is a green apple flavour. It has a full serving of greens+ plus a cleansing and detoxifying dandelion, milk thistle and alpha lipoic acid. Basically in this powder is everything good for you under the sun. From spirulina  to bee pollen. I'm excited to add it to my morning smoothies, I'll let you know how I feel after using it for a while. I'm new to the product so I'm only supposed to take 1/3 of a scoop and gradually increase my amount to 1 full scoop over a 3-week period. We'll see!

Today I also made a little time to plant my herb garden! I KNOW! I'm so excited about it!! Mom and Dad and Brooke, my sister, got me and C a herb garden for Easter and I'm SO excited about it! I planted Oregano, Basil, Rosemary and Parsley. To be honest, I keep looking over at it to see if anything is growing yet lol. It's been half an hour. I really want to see them sprout! I even have bigger pots for when they finally... bloom? Is that the right word?

There is something to be said for growing your own food (or herbs in my case). I think if I lived in a small town or if I lived back home with my family, I would totally plant a garden. I really wanted to plant my own tomatoes and cucumbers in pots when I first moved to Toronto and keep them on our balcony. Unfortunately, after thinking about it for a while, I realized that since I live above the Gardner Express Way, the car fumes would probably absorb into my vegetables and basically make them lethal. So I didn't go ahead with that idea lol. However, my herbs just need sunlight so I have them perched nicely on the floor next to our giant windows!! And they're not going to get so insanely large that they'd need to be outside. How long do they take to grow? I had to call my parents to help me plant everything over the phone. I'm not good at this sort of thing, but I wish I was! My dad and grandparents always had a garden growing up.... or maybe it was the older man that lived behind my grandparents. I don't know, either way I wish I had a garden.

I have something fun for you guys!!!

  8. We were talking about going to see that movie for Kev's birthday, maybe we will now. There was one other he wanted to see, can't remember the name.

The highlight this weekend was my belated birthday celebration at Seasons 52 and the purchase of a new dishwasher and microwave.

Hoping to have a garden this season. We'll see...

  9. The Greens + Daily Detox looks great - look forward to hearing what you think of it! And I love that you are creating your own herb garden. I grew up in a very rural area and we had our own fruit and veggie garden - so awesome to be able to have produce whenever you need it - and it tastes better than store bought too! :)
