I Need Your Advice!

Hey loveys,

First off - I don't know what's wrong with me. I think it's the fact that it's summertime and there's so much going on in the city ALL THE TIME that I've just been so distracted lately and I apologize for not writing as often as I should be. With lack of writing there is also lack of working out. I did a upper body workout on Tuesday and was sore until yesterday, and I did a lower body workout on Wednesday and am still a bit tender lol. I guess I slightly over did it.

There's a ton of stuff going on in Toronto this weekend! It's Canada Day long weekend obviously, but it's also Pride weekend!! Every year one of my oldest friends, Alyssa, comes into town with her husband and her brother hosts this epic Pride party to kick off the whole weekend so C and I went to that last night. Here are some photos... only the appropriate ones! :)

The theme of the party was Super Hero "I Need A Hero".... I planned on wearing what I wore plus some cat ears and a whip to be Cat Woman but I literally could not find any cat ears when I went shopping downtown this week. Epic fail. So I just decided not to dress up. I'm glad, because there were a lot of "Cat Woman" there!

That's been the fun of my weekend thus far, but we still have the big ol' Pride Parade tomorrow and whatever festivities we get up to this evening, which have yet to be determined. I could use a nap since we didn't get home until 5am this year (which is about 1.5 hours earlier than last year).

I am in such desperate need of a workout. I managed to get in 4 workouts this week, two strength training workouts and 2 cardio workouts. However my diet has been absolute ASS. Seriously. Last night before we went out we ordered Chinese food so I had wonton noodle soup and some chicken balls. Then after the party of course we went to McDonalds. The bain of my existence. I hate McDonalds. I mean.. it tastes good.. but it's awful. I will admit to ordering 1 double cheese burger and an order of chicken nuggets. And I also ate them. Which sucked.

So needless to say, yes, diet has been ass. I haven't juiced in a long time.... thinking about it though my diet isn't so bad during the week, but I know I'm not packing enough food to take to work with me so I end up buying food throughout the day... which isn't the best either. I've started weighing my food again because I got a new food journal to start writing all of my food again which has been motivating! I need to sit down and think about how to get my diet back on track.. no gluten.. no dairy.. no processed foods.

So here it is - I need help. Tell me what gets you back on track after getting off track for a while?

  1. I am a very regimented girl, so breaking out of the norm is hard for me - or in other words, I never stop working out or eating healthy. That being said, I am a huge freak lol... But I think what you need is to set a goal for yourself. After this weekend, since it sounds like it's going to be full of craziness, you need to designate a day where you will start getting back on track. Monday for instance. Plan what you're going to eat all day. Plan when you're going to work out, and don't let anything else get in the way. Do the same for Tuesday, Wednesday, etc and then soon enough you will be back in your routine. But hey, you only live once, so there is no need to feel TOO TOO guilty about not being as healthy as you typically are every so often!

  2. My advice would be to do what I think you said you were going to start to do - track what you eat. I don't think tracking is necessary long term, but I find it good when you need to get back on track or starting a weight loss journey. It keeps you honest about what you're eating and makes you think about what you eat. I would do something online like MyFitnessPal or some other app that tracks the nutrients just so you know and are aware for awhile again. I know for me seeing that sugar number creep up changed my eating habits the last time! I think you're already on the right track since you're aware that you feel off "the wagon" so to speak and you'll be just fine getting back into eating clean! And maybe on nights you plan on going out, eat a healthy snack or small salad prior to going out so you don't over indulge; that might help!

  3. For me I find scheduling my workouts, and making them non negotiable. That to me keeps me in check. But you know what sometimes it's nice to have a break and live life for a week or two. After a while I miss my workouts, cause I really love my food.

  4. awh! don't beat yourself up, love! starting to track again in the journal should help a lot. writing it down is a good visualization to keep you on track. that being said, planning ahead is always huge! maybe make a meal/menu plan at the beginning of each week?? this way you'll know exactly what you'll be doing for dinner each night and it won't leave much room for whoopsies and regrets. packing lunches is always a good help too!

  5. First off, let me say I'm so glad I found your blog... it's great! But any who, I live by the philosophy that every one needs a time to cheat from their diet in order to keep their sanity. No one eats healthy food all the time and if some one says they do, they're lying. Just get most of the unhealthy eating "urge" out of your system, and ease back into your healthy diet. I usually go on a raw food diet for a few days after I've cheated, then maybe do a juice cleanse. Hope this helps, and do NOT feel that bad over what you've eaten. There are more important things.

  6. I remind myself of my goals and how bad I want to reach them :)

I am in control of them so it's up to me to get after them!
