A couple of weeks ago I was sent a book called "Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle" to read and review on here! I love reviewing books because it forces me to read, and when I read I usually end up learning a thing or two I didn't know before. Win/Win situation if you ask me.
The book is written by Tom Venuto who is a fat-loss expert, transformation coach and bestselling author of the book I just mentioned. He holds a degree is Exercise Science and has worked in the fitness industry since 1989, including 14 years as a personal trainer. He promotes natural, healthy strategies for burning fat and building muscle and as a lifetime steroid-free bodybuilder, he's been there and done it himself. Tom blends the latest science with a realistic, common sense approach to transforming your body and maintaining your perfect weight for life.
With his background being so extensive in the fitness industry, I decided I wanted to check out his book. I was shocked when it came in the mail and it was almost 400 pages long! I've never actually seen a book providing fitness and health information that was so large, but actually getting into the book, there is A TON of information that he's gathered for his readers and brought together in one place.
The book provides the readers with The New Body 28 which is a 4-week training plan for sculpting lean muscle plus a quick start workout for beginners, a lifestyle program that's really flexible and easy to follow and motivation strategies to help you stick with your plan! I like the philosophy that the book has. It states that it's not a weight loss plan, it's a fat loss plan (they don't look at the scale, they look at lean body mass and how the body looks and feels in clothing), it's not a diet, it's a nutrition plan, they don't focus on solely nutrition or solely on fitness, they focus on both as a whole and they don't want you to just look good, they want you to actually feel better and be healthier.
I think this is a really good book for those starting in their weight loss journey or who aren't super educated in the areas of health and fitness. It explains why fad diets don't work, it explains how diets can actually slow your metabolism and cause you to gain more weight, and they actually customize the plan to fit you as a person, because the author realizes that 1 plan doesn't fit every person which is SO true.
